Cornwall is famous for its lovely beaches and the amazing sea and wildlife. The beaches attract visitors and when they go back, they leave a lot of waste. Par Beach is famous for its views and dog walkers however our local beach also receives the plastic waste and rubbish which is actually harming the marine life and beauty of the beach. We want to raise the awareness for plastic waste and its harmful effects on our beaches in the south west, namely Par Beach to start with.
Simon Dutton was contacted by Par Beach after this first Newspaper Article in ST Austell Voice Newspaper. They offered to donate a large sum of money for this project so Simon went for the meeting and did a presentation in front of several Council members and “Friends of Par Beach” Whilst a lot of people at the meetings aid they would donate NOT 1 penny was donated by them. They also wanted Simon to not only pay for the project but to ask him to empty the fish on a fortnightly bases, and wanted recognition for the idea, which naturally we declined.
